Sports News Today of Las Vegas is reportedly emerging as a leading candidate to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw this December, according to sources cited by Sports Travel. While no final decision has been confirmed, several other cities remain in contention. Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas has become a regular site for major Concacaf tournaments, having hosted the 2021 Gold Cup final, the 2023 Nations League semifinals and final, and three matches during the 2024 Copa América. The venue is also set to stage games in the 2025 Gold Cup and has drawn large crowds for international club friendlies, including the 2022 clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Sports News Today of Las Vegas chose not to bid for World Cup hosting rights, having withdrawn in 2018 because of the high costs required to upgrade Allegiant Stadium to meet FIFA standards. At the time, Steve Hill, President and COO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, stated that the necessary renovations would have exceeded $100 million. Nevertheless, FIFA’s interest in bringing the World Cup to Las Vegas has remained strong. According to ESPN’s John Sutcliffe, during tense negotiations with Los Angeles over the host city agreement, FIFA came close to substituting Las Vegas for Los Angeles — though the switch ultimately did not happen.

Latest Sports News of Las Vegas would become the first location to host a major FIFA World Cup 2026 event outside of an official host city. Previously, FIFA announced the host cities from a television studio in the New York area, revealed the tournament logo in Los Angeles, and had President Gianni Infantino present the match schedule and confirm New York/New Jersey as the site of the final from a studio in Miami. December is already a packed month in Las Vegas, featuring the National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center (December 4–13), along with NFL Raiders and NHL Golden Knights games, plus numerous holiday concert residencies.

WUV Sports News reports that Monterrey host city manager Alejandro Hutt told ESPN Deportes back in January that Monterrey and Vancouver had both submitted proposals to host the World Cup draw, but FIFA informed them that neither city would be chosen. Hutt mentioned that the ceremony would “most likely take place in another U.S. city that isn’t hosting World Cup matches.” Regarding the official announcement, an important date to watch could be May 15, during the 75th FIFA Congress in Asunción, Paraguay.

Goldengoalpress Sports News has unveiled a list of 49 possible training camp venues across North America for the 2026 World Cup — one more than the total number of participating teams. Additional site options are set to be announced this spring, with a final group expected in the fall, bringing the total number of locations to around 68.

Fox Sports News reports that 32 of the listed options are located in cities that won’t be hosting any matches. Out of the 11 U.S. host cities, six—New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, and Kansas City—are featured on the base camp list. Dallas tops the group with five possible training sites, while Atlanta and Kansas City each have two. The New York/New Jersey option is based in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Sports News Football will choose their base camps according to their FIFA world rankings. FIFA’s online directory features an interactive map outlining how close each camp option is to the designated host cities. Miami Host Committee Co-Chair Rodney Barreto recently expressed to the Miami Herald that “there’s some frustration with FIFA, as we’ve yet to receive full approval—they’ve essentially limited what we’re allowed to showcase to potential sponsors.”

Sky Sports News reported that each host city can appoint up to 10 official Host City Supporters, though these partnerships must not conflict with FIFA’s global sponsorship deals. According to industry sources, this restriction has caused difficulties for host cities trying to attract major local sponsors whose sectors might overlap with FIFA’s worldwide partners. During a two-day workshop held in Miami in January, The Herald highlighted that “multiple city officials expressed frustration over the lack of clear direction from FIFA about what host committees can offer to prospective sponsors.” Barreto noted that FIFA is currently working to provide clearer guidelines on the matter. Barreto, who shares leadership of the Miami Host Committee with Alina Hudak, confirmed Miami will stage seven matches, including a Round of 32 contest, a quarterfinal, and the third-place playoff.

BYU Sports News reports that Philadelphia 2026 has launched a 12-day fundraising campaign, encouraging supporters to donate $26 to help advance youth soccer programs across Pennsylvania. Nearly two dozen prizes are up for grabs, including tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, and various local sporting events. The campaign runs from February 18 through March 1, with more information available on LinkedIn and donations accepted online.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, personal hospitality packages for Atlanta’s eight World Cup matches will range from $21,800 to $40,400. Pricing for all host cities will be determined by FIFA and its partner On Location. Additional ticket-inclusive packages, featuring suite access and premium amenities, are expected to be released later this year.

Philly Sports News reports that the revolving loan for the New Jersey Host Committee has grown by another $7.5 million. The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority had first approved $5 million, later adding $2.5 million last year, and the latest boost has now doubled the total loan. In addition, over $33 million in public funding is being allocated for a design-build project to construct a new pedestrian bridge near MetLife Stadium. The authority has also established a “Major Events Committee” in preparation for eight matches, including the championship final.
